With the steady growth of the global economy and the increase in trade activities, the demand for maritime transportation has continued to rise, bringing unprecedented opportunities and challenges to the port industry in the Asia-Pacific region. As a key driving force of the global economy, ports in the Asia-Pacific region not only bear huge cargo volumes, but also play a crucial role in global supply chains. In this context, the 12th PorTech Asia Summit is timely scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on January 9th and 10th, 2025. Hosted by Shine Consultant, the summit is supported by International Association of Ports and Harbors, With the theme of "Smart Green Multi-win," Shine Consultant hosts the summit, gathering port technology experts from across the globe to collaboratively explore and propel the innovation and development of the port industry in the digital era.

 

Partial Speakers of the Conference

At present, the summit is honored to invite the following heavy-weight speakers who will share their unique insights and valuable experience in their respective fields:

 

Hisataka Uematsu, President, the Port of Yokohama, Japan

Hisataka Uematsu will share insights on “Advancing Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards in Modern Port Operations ", including an outline of the Port of Yokohama, health and safety measures, and climate change initiatives.

Hisataka Uematsu has been President of Yokohama Port Corporation (YPC) since July 1, 2024.

He began his career in Yokohama City in 1986. Since 2011, he has successively served as the Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Director, General Manager of Logistics Management and General Manager of the Port and Port Authority's Yamashita Wharf Redevelopment Coordination Office, and has extensive port management experience.

He will share insights on " Advancing Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards in Modern Port Operations," detailing the outline of the Port of Yokohama, health and safety measures, and climate change initiatives to provide valuable references and lessons for participants.

 

Ivan Fantin, Vice President, Chief Lean Officer, APM Terminals, Maersk

Ivan Fantin has over 25 years of expertise in operations, supply chain, Lean, IT and sales.

In his career Ivan has served in different industries as Manufacturing Manager, Lean Manager, Head of Quality, Global Quality Executive, VP of Global Operations, Global Lean Executive and Chief Lean Officer, in companies as Danaher, General Electric, LivaNova, Circor and Maersk.

Ivan also cooperates since more than 10 years with the ESCP Europe Business School as Contract Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management for Corporate bespoke courses, for the General Management GMP and the Executive MBA programmes, for which ESCP is ranked 3rd worldwide in 2023 by the Financial Times.

At this summit, Ivan Fantin plans to share the theme of "Experience Gained in APM Terminals Using Lean to Achieve Great Results", looking forward to his wonderful speech at the meeting!

 

Eun-kyoung Park, General Manager, Overseas Business Department, Busan Port Authority

It has been 19 years since she joined BPA in 2005, and worked various departments as Logistics Policy, Planning and Coordination, Marketing, PR, and investment & budget etc.

She recently completed the selection of a new terminal operator located on the west side of Busan New Port, fully automated terminal which was opened this year.

With these experiences she is a member of the Logistics Policy Committee in Kyung-nam Provincial Office.

Currently, she is in the Overseas Business department in charging of Southeast Asian business and Indonesia logistics center project. From 2025, she is going to move to Indonesia as representative of Busan Port Authority.

She also has Master’s Degree in Department of International Trade, Pukyong National University and completed Doctorate for Global Port Governance in Korea Maritime and Ocean University.

 

YBhg. Dato' Dr. Vijayaindiaran A/LR.Viswalingam, General Manager, Penang Port Commission

Dato’ Dr. Vijayaindiran A/L R. Viswalingam is a seasoned leader in the port and logistics industry, with over 25 years of experience in port planning, development, and strategic management. Currently serving as the General Manager of the Penang Port Commission since 2023, Dato’Dr. Vijayaindiran has previously held senior roles at Port Klang Authorities, including Assistant General Manager and Senior Manager for Planning and Development. His work has driven substantial advancements in Malaysia’s port infrastructure and operations, with notable achievements such as developing the Penang Port Development Master Plan (2023–2053) and creating the digital platform Port Klang Net, which streamlined port efficiencies and operations.

Dato’Dr. Vijayaindiran’s academic background includes a Doctorate in Business Administration from California Metropolitan University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Cardiff Metropolitan University, with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from University Utara Malaysia. His expertise has made him a sought-after speaker at international conferences, where he has presented on key topics in port logistics and regional cooperation, such as at the Asia Ports Conference and the United Nations Port Performance Expert Group Meeting.

He is actively involved in professional and social organizations, including the ASEAN Ports Association, the International Association of Ports and Harbors, and several Malaysian community organizations. Fluent in English, Malay, and Tamil, Dato’Dr. Vijayaindiran continues to be a prominent figure in Malaysia's maritime industry, contributing to infrastructure projects, industry-academia collaborations, and sustainability efforts that shape the region’s port and logistics future.

 

At the same time, we also invited speakers from key institutions such as MMC Ports Sdn Bhd, Kuantan Port, Mumbai Port Authority&Deendayal Port Authority and PT Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT),etc.
