All change for HKGFM
Following the appointment of Monopoly Design to advise on the re-branding of HKGFM, the board of Directors have decided to accept Monopoly’s recommendation to rename the Radio Platform GFM.FM.
“Our business model was to have local market identification/branding e.g. 'HK '- gfm etc within a broader regional platform, however, the listener base has quickly become both regional as well as international. – Chris B, GM of GFM.FM
She added, “We started in Hong Kong as per our musical roots which we want to stay loyal to, but the listener base soon became regional as well as international, combined with the explosion in new and emerging regional musical talent we felt the need to fully embrace the reach of our audience with a new look and feel. Changing our name, signals to the market that we cover a broader base than just Hong Kong and acknowledges our regional audience at the same time.”
Asked what was the inspiration behind the GFM.FM design, Andy Blank, Director of Monopoly Design said “Strange Worlds. Weird Science.”
"The aim was to create an ecosystem… and just see how things evolve…”, states Blank, “For example, each music genre is a different animal - as are the listeners… so we wanted to create an environment that enabled these things to grow, branch off, be added to, go extinct if necessary, inspire new life forms where possible.”
