MUNICH, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--RWE Effizienz GmbH, a leading European provider for intelligent system solutions for electric vehicle charging facilities, INSYS icom, a leading industrial data communications specialist, and Cinterion, the global leader in M2M communications modules and a Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653 GTO) company, today announced winning the Connected World Magazine’s prestigious Value Chain Award for the RWE Smart-Station eCar charging infrastructure. The Value Chain Award honors the most successful corporate adopters of M2M technology and the solution providers that make their success possible.
RWE’s Smart-Station provides convenient charging for electric vehicles at six times the speed of traditional electric outlets, and three times faster than competing charging stations. RWE Smart-Stations are currently being deployed throughout Europe in public spaces, parking lots and at customers’ homes and businesses. RWE is already operating more than 950 charging points in 14 countries.
“RWE and its partners, INSYS icom and Cinterion, were honored for their collaborative efforts to apply innovative M2M technology to help revolutionize world transportation systems and help solve the growing threat of climate change,” said Peggy Smedley, editorial director and publisher of Connected World. “M2M is transforming the way we live and operate in the world, optimizing costs and improving everything from healthcare to transportation to security systems and beyond.”
“M2M is a crucial enabling technology to support this new and widely distributed high-speed charging infrastructure and we’re grateful for the M2M expertise and outstanding engineering support of Cinterion and INSYS icom,” said Stephan Voit, RWE Effizienz GmbH. “RWE and its partners are ahead of the curve in developing and deploying charging stations that allow drivers to ‘fill up’ with green electricity at any time, anywhere.”
