ANTWERP, Belgium--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ferranti is pleased to announce the appointment of Dirk Michiels to the position of Chairman of the Executive Committee with the title of Chief Executive Officer.
Ferranti Computer Systems and Dirk Wauters have reached mutual agreement whereby Dirk Wauters has resigned from his position as Chairman of the Executive Committee. Dirk Wauters has agreed to remain as an advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors until December 31, 2011.
Mr. Richard Nijkerk, Chairman Board of Directors: "Mr. Michiels is a Ferranti veteran with 25 years of experience in the company. The board is very pleased with his appointment and looks forward to the continued path of growth of Ferranti in both the ICT, business solutions and the utility market."
Mr. Michiels graduated in 1985 with a Master of Engineering in ICT and joined Ferranti in the UK, with a focus on integration projects for the utility industry.
Mr. Michiels moved back to Belgium, heading the Ferranti Belgium organization together with Mr. Franky Baert. Since then, he has been responsible for all operational projects at Ferranti. In 1994, Ferranti Belgium became part of the Nijkerk Group, acting as a system integrator for ICT, public sector and the utility space. Mr. Michiels guided the company towards international expansion with the MECOMSTM product.
Mr. Michiels serves simultaneously as President of the Belgian chapter of the International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners (IAMCP).
