NEW YORK & LONDON & HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jefferies announced today the appointment of Sean Darby as Global Head of Equity Strategy. Mr. Darby will be responsible for identifying global trends and potential opportunities in the equity markets by analyzing various industries and market sectors. Mr. Darby will work closely with Jefferies' equity research analysts in the U.S., Europe and Asia to develop investment themes and strategies, including a conviction list of stock recommendations for clients. He will be based in the firm's Hong Kong office and will report to Steven R. Black, Global Head of Equity Research at Jefferies.

Mr. Darby joins the firm from Nomura, where he spent almost 10 years and was most recently Head of Asia Strategy. While at that firm, he was ranked as the #2 Asia Strategist by Institutional Investor and #3 Asia Strategist by AsiaMoney. Previously, he was an Asian Regional Strategist at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. Prior to that, he was a Portfolio Manager focused on Asia and Japan securities at Equitable Life in the UK, and before that, a Portfolio Manager at Scottish Provident in the UK. He is a graduate of both Exeter University and Stirling University and is a Chartered Engineer.
