Four Senior Equity Research Hires Join in Hong Kong

As part of the firm's ongoing expansion in global equity research, Jefferies announced today the addition of four Senior Research Analysts who have joined the firm over the last few months in the firm's Hong Kong office:

• Julian Bu as Head of China Industrials and Co-Head of Asian Conglomerates Equity Research
• Jessie Guo as Head of Asia Consumer Equity Research
• Johnson Leung as Head of Asia Transport Equity Research
• Laban Yu as Head of Asia Oil & Gas Equity Research

Jefferies' equity research team in Asia focuses on the Consumer, Energy, Industrials, Financials, Healthcare, Property, Technology, Media and Telecommunications sectors and currently covers over 136 companies in Asia. As part of the firm's ongoing build-out in Asia, Jefferies plans to continue to add analysts and expand coverage accordingly.

Jefferies and its affiliates have more than 250 equity research professionals in the U.S., Europe and Asia covering nearly 1300 companies in the areas of aerospace & defense, clean technology, consumer, energy, financial services, gaming, lodging & leisure, healthcare, industrials, maritime, media & entertainment, real estate, technology, telecommunications and utilities.

Mr. Bu brings to Jefferies more than ten years of equity research experience and joins the firm from Macquarie Group, where he was a Senior Equity Research Analyst and Head of Conglomerates Asia. Previously, he spent three years at Citigroup in Sydney, Australia, as a Senior Equity Research Analyst covering the industrials sector. Prior to that, he spent six years at Lehman Brothers in New York as a Senior Equity Research Analyst covering IT and Business Services companies. He received a MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a BS from the University of Science and Technology of China.

Dr. Guo joins Jefferies from HSBC, where she was a Consumer Equity Research Analyst covering greater China. Previously, she was an Equity Research Analyst at Goldman Sachs, covering the Oil & Gas sector based in Beijing; and the Consumer sector based in Singapore. She received a PhD in Management Economics and a Master of Philosophy in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge (U.K.), an MA in Economics from Peking University (Beijing) and a BA in International Economics from Nankai University (Tianjin).

Mr. Leung joins Jefferies from Tufton Oceanic, a maritime-focused hedge fund, where he was a Senior Shipping Analyst. Previously, he was a Regional Shipping Analyst at JP Morgan, where he was ranked as a top shipping analyst in the Institutional Investor analyst survey. Prior to that he was a Strategic Investments Manager at Hutchison Port Holdings and spent seven years at Maersk Group in a variety of corporate development roles in Brazil, Denmark and China. He received an MBA from Insead Business School.

Mr. Yu joins Jefferies from Macquarie Securities, where he covered the China Oil and Gas sector. Previously, he held similar roles at MainFirst Securities and Lehman Brothers in Hong Kong and New York. He received an MA in International Affairs from Columbia University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University.
