Merger immediately creates a premier, specialized giving advisory

SAN FRANCISCO & HONG KONG -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Give2Asia, a nonprofit founded to provide exceptional, tailored philanthropy services and stewardship, today announced it has acquired the Asia Pacific Philanthropy Consortium (APPC), the independent association of giving professionals highly regarded for its landmark philanthropy research and advocacy.

The new combination of Give2Asia's services, including grantmaking, consulting, and donor advised funds, with APPC's specialists and in-depth intelligence on giving issues, immediately creates a premier, specialized giving advisory; the merger also fulfills Give2Asia's strategy to expand its presence in Asia and provide bespoke services to donors in Asia and the U.S. with distinct, deliberate giving goals and needs.

APPC's operations will be merged into Give2Asia and the expanded Give2Asia will be incorporated in the United States and Hong Kong.

In a related statement, Give2Asia today announced the launch of the Asian Philanthropy Advisory Network, a new partnership of experts, including former APPC board members, whose opinions and forecasts will benefit Give2Asia clients and the field of overseas giving in and to Asia.

"Our mission is to improve the quality and quantity of philanthropy to Asia and to serve our donors," said Barnett F. Baron, currently President and CEO of Give2Asia and former chairman of the APPC. "Philanthropy in Asia is rapidly evolving, and this merger allows us to better serve our clients by offering outstanding expertise and insights, combined with unrivaled, richly networked giving advisory services. Starting today, we are leveraging our combined capabilities to help donors meet their goals."

"Today's merger is the next step toward reaching our original goal of improving philanthropic policies and structures in the Asia-Pacific," said Noshir Dadrawala previously a board member of APPC and now a member of the newly launched Asian Philanthropy Advisory Network. Mr. Dadrawala is Chief Executive Officer for the Centre for Advancement of Philanthropy in Mumbai, India. "We are pleased to now make our knowledge directly available to donors-the individuals and organizations shaping giving in Asia."

Since its founding in 2001, Give2Asia has facilitated $177 million to education, health, livelihood, and disaster relief projects and has connected more than 8,500 donors to over 1,000 locally run organizations in Asia.
