Multi-Year Agreement Enables Leading Mobile Device Manufacturer to Enhance Entertainment Experiences for Connected Consumers
CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI) today announced a global partnership with Pantech to integrate DTS high-performance audio technology into Pantech devices including smartphones. After an overwhelmingly positive market response to Pantech's high-end DTS-enabled Vega products, the companies formed a strategic collaboration to deliver DTS audio technology across Pantech products worldwide. The multi-year license agreement, effective immediately, will enhance the connected consumers' digital audio experiences by including DTS state-of-the-art audio technology into Pantech's industry-leading consumer entertainment devices.
"Due to the rapid adoption of our current DTS-licensed products, Pantech is committed to integrating DTS technology in all of our consumer devices," said Jiuk Moon, CTO / Senior Executive Vice President of R&D Center at Pantech. "Consumers are increasingly using mobile devices to view entertainment content, so the bar is raised as these products are held to a higher standard. With a growing demand for immersive 3-D audio, leveraging DTS technology was a clear choice to ensure that our products continue to exceed market expectations-offering consumers an amplified, superior sound experience on-the-go."
As a result of this partnership, DTS decoder and post processing technologies, including the innovative DTS EnveloTM and DTS Boost, will be included in Pantech products:
- DTS Envelo creates a more natural sound field by elevating the quality of vocals and defining each layer of sound to add both depth and dimensionally to the audio experience
- DTS Boost maximizes the mobile device's acoustic power for more robust volume levels without distorting or altering the integrity of the sound quality
DTS technology will provide consumers a more realistic, immersive audio experience when listening to music or playing games on portable devices.
"Today's consumers demand high-quality audio, not just in their homes and cars, but on every device they consume entertainment content," commented Brian Towne, executive vice president and chief operating officer at DTS. "This partnership showcases DTS' dedication to providing the highest possible quality audio for any consumer entertainment experiences - regardless of the platform."
Jea Yoo, vice president and managing director of DTS Korea, added, "As DTS becomes firmly entrenched in the consumer electronics industry, we're pleased to align with Korea's leading phone manufactures to offer consumers immersive and uncompromised mobile audio experience."
