AED 1.15 billion agreement announced at Dubai Air Show will enable AMMROC to provide military aviation MRO services.
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AMMROC (Advanced Military Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Center) (AMMROC), owned by Mubadala Aerospace, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and Lockheed Martin Corporation, today announced it has entered into an agreement to provide maintenance services for fixed and rotary aircraft for the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces.
This renewable agreement is for an initial period of 2 years, after which time the GHQ anticipates entering into a Performance Based Logistics (PBL) arrangement with AMMROC - a paradigm shift for supplying military aviation Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services in the UAE - facilitating efficiency improvements in delivering such services.
This agreement will enable the UAE Armed Forces to remain focussed on the operation of their aircraft, while AMMROC will provide maintenance and repair services, streamlining various processes and optimizing manpower for the UAE Armed Forces. This also reinforces AMMROC's vision to operate a world class facility providing a self-sustaining, and commercially viable platform for the UAE Armed Forces.
Fahed Al Shamesi, CEO of AMMROC, said: "Being selected as the maintenance service provider by the GHQ is a significant milestone for AMMROC, demonstrating the outstanding progress that has been made by the company in a very short space of time. It illustrates the level of trust that we have built with our most important customer and the ongoing commitment from our shareholders to build this capability for the benefit of the UAE."
Launched in July 2010, AMMROC is a joint venture company owned by Mubadala Aerospace, Sikorsky Aerospace Services, the aftermarket business of Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and Lockheed Martin Corporation. AMMROC is headquartered in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.
With the combined strength of the partners and an aggregate investment that exceeds US$800 million, AMMROC draws on decades of experience and expertise in aerospace engineering, material support, logistics, maintenance, component repair, overhaul and training, to deliver a fully integrated MRO support program by a single provider.
As a center of excellence, AMMROC's objective is to provide innovative platform solutions for all fixed and rotary-wing aircraft operated by the UAE Armed Forces, to ensure guaranteed aircraft readiness, deployability, improved safety and self reliance, thus enabling operational, humanitarian and peace keeping missions.
AMMROC is currently based at Abu Dhabi International Airport until the completion of its new complex at Al Ain International Airport. The center is expected to create an additional 2,500 new jobs in the UAE, focusing on the development of UAE Nationals. It will also maintain an on-site presence at those UAE Armed Forces bases associated with ongoing maintenance support contracts.
