LEICESTER, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A lecturer from De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester, UK, has been honoured by a university in China.

Fred Mear was presented with a 'Special Contribution' award in recognition of his commitment to the Business School programmes that he helped establish at the Sun Wah International Business School at Liaoning University.

Since 2004, Mr Mear - principal lecturer in accounting and finance at DMU - has flown out to the university in Shenyang at least once a year to teach accounting and finance.

"I was very touched to receive the honour, because it's the first time that the Sun Wah International Business School has made such an award," he said.

"Our relationship with Liaoning University is one of DMU's biggest collaborative projects and I'm very proud to have been able to play my part in developing this partnership programme."

Professor Liu, Dean of Sun Wah International Business School, said: "The 'Special Contribution' award is designed to acknowledge the people who have contributed a lot to our programme.

"We greatly appreciate the dedication that Fred has shown over the years, both to the programme and to the students."

Students on the programme typically do two years at Liaoning University before joining accounting and finance students at DMU as they start the second year of their degree course.

Around 100 students join the programme each year.
