SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ACE Asia Pacific, a part of the ACE Group of Companies, global leaders in insurance and reinsurance, today announced the appointment of Wim Matthys as Regional Senior Risk Engineer, Asia Pacific.

With over six years of experience with a European insurer followed by another three years as the ACE European Group's Senior Risk Engineer for Energy, Mr. Matthys will be actively involved in servicing the growing energy book out of Australia and the Asia Pacific. He will work closely with the Global Energy operations and will also provide coverage for Property and Casualty clients.

In his new role, Mr. Matthys will be based in Perth and will report to Raimund Navakas, Vice President & Asia Pacific Regional Manager, Risk Engineering Services. Mr. Matthys will relocate from Belgium to Perth, Western Australia in early 2012 where he will be ACE's primary engineer positioned to service major growth areas in mining, offshore and onshore energy as well as property and casualty segments.

Mr. Matthys has over 10 years of experience in the risk engineering industry.

In addition to his risk engineering background, he has also previously worked with SGS Redwood, a chemical production facility and a major tank storage and handling site in Antwerp.

Mr. Matthys is fluent in four languages and holds a Master's in Industrial Engineering (Chemistry).
