)--Hundreds of Hong Kong students will be graduating next week with degrees in management awarded by the Vice-Chancellor of an innovative UK university which is expanding its international collaborations.Almost 400 students will graduate the City University of Hong Kong with a degree from De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester, UK, on Tuesday 6 December.
The two universities had already been partner institutions for more than 15 years when DMU started up the BA (Hons) Public Administration and Management programme at City University’s School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE).
Professor Dominic Shellard, Vice-Chancellor of DMU, said: “At De Montfort University we are proud of our students in Hong Kong, as we are of our strong relationship with City University. Our relationship plays a vital role in helping us achieve our vision to become a truly international university, building influential relationships to enrich our research, our teaching and our cultural collaborations.
“This is our longest standing international collaborative partnership, so I am truly honoured to be visiting Hong Kong next week to congratulate the students first hand on their commitment to our courses at City University.”
This year SCOPE is celebrating its 20th anniversary after being founded by Dr Charles Wong, the current director of the school, in 1991.
DMU awarded Dr Wong an Honorary Doctorate of Education in 2006 for his continuous involvement and dedication to the partnership which was first established in 1996.
SCOPE’s aim is to help fulfill the university’s role as a centre for lifelong education and currently runs a number of courses in partnership with Leicester Business School at DMU.
A total of 395 students will be graduating from the following DMU courses which run at SCOPE:
- BA (Hons) Business Administration and Management (Full-time)
- BA (Hons) Business Administration and Management (Part-time)
- BA (Hons) Public Administration and Management (Part-time)
- MSc International Business and Management (Part-time)
- MSc Management (Part-time)
DMU is continuing to build a network of international partners across the world, helping international students gain advanced entry to the university’s courses.
This year the university has collaborated with two more of China’s top universities, Nanjing University in Jiangsu Province, and Liaoning University in Shenyang, to boost academic exchanges and research cooperation.
