)--Global Environment Fund (GEF) announced today the addition of three senior professionals to the firm. With these additions, GEF bolsters its capabilities in terms of timber investments, Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) and fund formation.Dwight O’Donnell joins GEF’s Forestry Team as a Senior Investment Partner. Mr. O’Donnell brings more than 35 years of forest products industry experience to GEF’s investments in timber in South Africa. Prior to joining GEF, Mr. O’Donnell developed and participated in over 50 projects at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), resulting in investments of over $1 billion. Mr. O’Donnell holds a Bachelor of Science in Wood Science and Technology from the University of California at Berkeley.
Nick Morriss joins GEF as a Senior Investment Partner. Mr. Morriss will provide strategic guidance as GEF continues to expand into key growth markets and to build out its global institutional LP base in coming years. Mr. Morriss has over 30 years of experience in private equity, corporate finance, and privatization in both developed and emerging economies. Prior to joining GEF, Mr. Morriss was co-founder and Managing Partner of EMAlternatives, a private equity funds investment group focused on emerging markets. Mr. Morriss holds a BA in Economics from the University of York (England).
Peter Tynan joins GEF as Managing Director of Sustainability. Mr. Tynan will continue to institutionalize GEF’s long-standing commitment to ESG, integrating the highest standards of excellence and integrity into the firm’s investment activities. Mr. Tynan will work closely with the company’s investment teams and portfolio company management teams to mitigate Environmental, Social and Governance risks and identify opportunities to enhance the value of GEF’s investee companies. Prior to joining GEF, Mr. Tynan was a Partner at Dalberg Global Advisors, working with institutional LPs on their investments in emerging markets, and focusing on renewable energy, energy efficiency, agriculture, and other sustainability-related sectors. Mr. Tynan holds a MBA from Harvard Business School, a MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Bachelor of Business with First Class Honours and the University Medal, from the University of Technology, Sydney.
