TV audio innovator's Total Cal software enables the highest-quality sound from TVs
MILFORD, Mass. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --
dbx-tv® (a division of THAT Corporation®), developers of audio-processing technologies that extract the highest-quality sound from TVs, today announced that it has been named a finalist in IMS Research's TV Innovation Awards in the Audio Experience category for its Total CalTM audio measurement and calibration tool.
The TV Innovation Awards recognize the most forward thinking companies creating products and services that are changing the way people watch television. The nominees will be presented and the winner of the Innovator of the Year Award will be announced at an awards ceremony on January 9, at the International 2012 CES Show.
There are 14 TV Innovation Awards being presented, ranging from TV Performance to Advanced User Interface Solutions. Each award category is judged by a completely independent expert panel, and the winners of each category are then judged against each other to decide the overall TV Innovator of the Year.
Now in its third year, the Awards have grown to become one of the premier endorsements of innovation in television. They are administered by IMS Research, and according to its President, Ian Weightman: "One of the main reasons that the TV Innovation Awards have become so sought after is that each entry is judged on a completely level playing field. This ensures that companies, ranging from the biggest names in consumer electronics to innovative start-ups, can measure objectively how their products stack-up against those of their competitors."
"Today's ultra-sleek TV set designs with little or no bezels and tiny speakers provide a huge challenge for manufacturers to cost-effectively extract the best possible sound from their TV product lines," said Les Tyler, President of THAT Corporation. "We are excited that Total Cal's ability to quickly optimize audio quality and generate maximum bass is being recognized by this nomination. Total Cal enables TV manufacturers to finally give consumers sound quality that will match their brilliant TV picture quality."
