Aptina provides SOC solution for low-light viewing applications
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Aptina, a leading provider of CMOS image sensor solutions to the industry's automotive manufacturers and OEMs worldwide, announced today the launch of its new ASX340AT system-on-chip (SOC). This camera viewing solution was designed to meet the needs of automotive tier-1 manufacturers and OEM's worldwide. The SOC's excellent lowlight performance, dynamic overlay capability, and operating temperature range of -40ºC to +105ºC make this ¼" optical format VGA sensor, with excellent 5.6-micron pixel performance, a powerful addition to Aptina's growing portfolio of advanced automotive viewing solutions. The SOC is ideally suited for applications such as rear view cameras, blind spot monitoring and surround view. The ASX340AT provides performance-focused features and SOC processing that provides integrators with the ability to design rear view camera systems without the need for additional processing chips.
Aptina's latest automotive SOC combines a proven 5.6-micron pixel used in the company's other successful automotive sensors, and integrates AptinaTM DR-PIXTM technology for increased sensitivity and low read noise for low-light scenes. The ASX340AT also provides notable features such as dynamic overlay capability, which allows camera system designers to add colored graphics to the display to enhance the experience of the driver, and a crop and zoom feature enabling customization to suit a wide range of vehicle body designs. Additionally, there is an on-chip temperature sensor for dynamic system feedback and additional optical pixels to assist lens alignment during camera manufacturing.
"The ASX340AT is ideally suited for vehicle manufacturers designing cost effective, rear view camera systems to comply with NHTSA's requirements," said David Zimpfer, Vice President and General Manager of Aptina's automotive business.
The ASX340AT SOC will be sampling starting calendar Q1 2012. It is available in a 7.5mm x 7.5mm, 63-ball iBGA package and is AEC-Q100 qualified.
Aptina DR-Pix Technology
Aptina's innovative approach to improving low light performance without compromising image quality utilizes a dynamic response pixel, called Aptina DR-Pix technology. This technology combines two modes of operation in one pixel design - low conversion gain mode for large charge handling capacity in bright scenes and a high conversion gain mode with increased sensitivity and low read noise for low-light scenes. The result is a sensor, like the company's ASX340AT, that offers the best possible noise performance over all ISO speed conditions.
