LOS ANGELES -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --
The MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) has launched an online study guide to support their Carrier Ethernet Certified Professional (MEF-CECP) program. With 191 MEF-CECPs already registered in 27 countries since the program's launch last year, the response has been extremely positive. However, the demand for skilled professional Carrier Ethernet expertise is unabated, and this study guide is designed to help bridge the gap. It is available now in universal browser format and as part of the mobile iPad app 'MEF on the Go' both available at http://metroethernetforum.org/CarrierEthernetStudyGuide/.
"We set the bar high, and the quality of applicants has been excellent" says MEF President Nan Chen. "The examination tests them on a vast body of knowledge generated by the MEF over ten years - in addition to materials from the IEEE and other bodies - and we want candidates to spend less time searching the database and more time learning. This guide does exactly that - setting out the essentials in a clear, easy to navigate format with direct links to further study materials."
The guide already amounts to over 180 HTML pages of concise information, and is being continuously updated and expanded. Those registering to access the free guide can also opt to receive notification of updates via Twitter (@MEFCert). The Study Guide also includes a comprehensive gallery of diagrams used by the MEF, a glossary of terms, and a consolidated list of links to all reference documents.
To qualify as an MEF-CECP, candidates must pass an 80 question multiple choice examination covering the relevant aspects of Carrier Ethernet. The exam can be taken online at the candidate's convenience - regulated by web based proctoring technology to ensure the security and integrity of the examination - or taken in an MEF approved test facility. Individuals also have the option of taking class training from an MEF Accredited Training Partners (MEF-ATP). Whether self-taught or professionally trained, every candidate will benefit from the concise and accessible compendium provided by the Study Guide.
"The latest data on Carrier Ethernet 2.0 is already available on the guide", adds Nan Chen. "After our February launch of Carrier Ethernet 2.0, the demand for supporting information from MEF has been huge and we see this as being an important vehicle in meeting that need".
