Report covers JM's long-time sustainability focus and progress towards goals
DENVER -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Johns Manville (JM), a leading global manufacturer of energy-efficient building products and engineered specialty materials, today announced the publication of We Build Environments, its 2011 Sustainability Report. The publication can be viewed as a PDF file on the company's website at www.jm.com/sustainability.
"JM has been in business over 150 years, and has had a sustainability focus long before it became common to do so. Many of our products, for instance, provide energy-efficient solutions that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the use of energy," said Todd Raba, JM chairman, president and CEO.
The report, which was completed using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework, presents the company's approach to sustainability and its progress towards achieving its long-term sustainability goals. In addition to information and case studies associated with energy efficiency, reducing the energy and carbon intensity of its operations, reducing solid waste and increasing use of recycled materials in several areas of its business, the report also highlights the company's social responsibility in the areas of safety, employee practices and community investment.
"When you view sustainability as a good business practice and a key corporate strategy, as we do, it becomes integrated into business decisions and the strategic planning process," said J. Scott Pusey, vice president and leader of JM's Sustainability Council. "Our process ensures we maintain a continuous focus on sustainability in all aspects of our business."
