Smarter & Stronger- Developing a Comprehensive Smart Grid System in China
September 13th -14th
DoubleTree Hilton Shanghai, China
China has surpassed the United States to become the world's largest energy user, according to the Paris-based International Energy Agency. As a result of rapidly growing GDP, China's domestic energy consumption will continue to rise. Meanwhile, renewable energy sources, like nuclear, wind and solar energy are seen as a viable alternative to traditional fossil fuels.
The event, to be held in Shanghai in September, will focus on the "Strong and Smart Grid Plan", to develop a Comprehensive Smart Grid System in China.
China Smart Grid are estimated to be a nearly $100 billion opportunity over the next five years. With total power capacity set to reach 1,430 gigawatt by 2015 from 874 gigawatt at the start of 2010.
To do this, it will has to figure out how to bring trillions of kilowatt hours of power to more than a billion customers, sometimes over very long distances.
It could eventually mean a revolutionary nationwide smart grid system by the fact that the country is working to build all new infrastructure from the ground up, rather than trying to retrofit an old system.
At the end of 2011, the State Grid Corporation of China's (SGCC) had already put in place 238 smart grid pilot projects including connecting wind power plants and installing metering systems in households.
With this mind, the 4th Annual China Smart Grid Forum 2012 will bring industry thought leaders and a focused group of audience together to discuss the policy & the regulatory landscape, smart grid standardization, customer-side issues (billing, metering & CRM), ICT, smart distribution and smart integration of renewable.
The two-day summit convenes in Shanghai, China on September 13th -14th, will draw over 80 companies, bringing participants from GE, Panasonic, Honeywell, TUV Sud(s) etc, VIP from NEA, SGEPRI, SGCC, CSG, IEEE etc.
