BERLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--castLabs, a leading mobile video technologies and services company, today announces that the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE) has selected the castLabs UltraViolet™ Download Service Provider (DSP) for use in the UltraViolet Compliance Verification Programme (CVP). As implementations of UltraViolet-licensed devices and media players (“UltraViolet Players”) become ready, DECE will use castLabs’ reference DSP to verify UltraViolet Players’ specification compliance.

"Being an UltraViolet pioneer from the very beginning, we are proud to now deliver our solution to the DECE as a reference system”, said Michael Stattmann, Managing Director of castLabs. “Therefore, customers of our UltraViolet Product Suite will reach the highest possible degree of UltraViolet Player compliance and market reach. As a DECE supplier, we will provide all approved UltraViolet DRMs 60 days after they become deployment-ready at the very latest. We can therefore assure the fastest time-to-market for Video-on-Demand retailers.”

UltraViolet delivers a compelling way to collect and enjoy home video entertainment. The castLabs UltraViolet Product Suite provides a comprehensive solution tailored to the requirements of content providers, retailers, and device manufacturers. Their cloud-based services enable business customers to effortlessly integrate with the forthcoming Common File Format component of the UltraViolet video content ecosystem, created by the DECE. Device manufacturers benefit from client-side technology, delivered in the form of video players and player SDK or libraries.

The castLabs UltraViolet™ Product Suite contains the download service provider (DSP), a Common File Format (CFF) packaging and publishing tool, and the DASH-based locker access streaming provider (LASP) as the central components. In the backend, it is integrated with the UltraViolet Coordinator, and on the frontend, the castLabs UltraViolet Retailer Integration Proxy provides simplified access to the DSP and LASP services for retailers who want to adopt the UltraViolet experience. This currently is the only platform that supports with CMLA-OMA and Microsoft PlayReady all deployment-ready UltraViolet DRMs for enablement of CFF content downloads. The other approved DRMs - Adobe Access, Marlin, and Google’s Widevine - will be available shortly after they become deployment-ready.

For the UltraViolet Player side, the castLabs UltraViolet Product Suite provides a Device SDK, enabling retailers to create their own customised video player application. The Device SDK features Java and native player core components, CFF file playback, progressive download, all HTTP streaming protocols including DASH, DRM agent, integrated multi-channel audio codecs from Dolby and DTS, CFF subtitles support and HDMI output.

All components of the castLabs UltraViolet platform have been developed in accordance to the latest set of UltraViolet specifications, guaranteeing the highest level of security, seamless integration and 100% UltraViolet compatibility.
