)--The Valence Group, a specialist M&A investment bank offering advisory services to companies and investors in the chemicals, materials and related sectors, today announced the appointment of Akiva Mozes, former President and CEO of diversified chemical manufacturer Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL), to its Senior Executive Panel (SEP).“Akiva brings unique leadership experience in the global chemicals sector, including areas such as fertilizers, natural resources and related downstream products. He will be a valuable addition to The Valence Group team,” said Ariel Levin, a co-founder and partner of the firm. “We look forward to the role he will play in providing industry insight and counsel to our corporate and private equity relationships.”
Mr. Mozes acted as President and CEO of ICL from 1999 until his retirement in 2012. Under his leadership, ICL's sales quadrupled to $7bn, net income increased 14-fold and ICL’s market capitalization increased from $1bn to $15bn. He also oversaw a significant acquisition and divestiture program which helped ICL achieve leadership positions in many of its core markets.
Valence’s SEP provides its clients with access to the strategic insight and experience of senior executives who have run major chemical companies or have acted as principal investors in the sector. Other members include: David Lilley, former CEO of Cytec Industries; Lasse Kurkilahti, former CEO of Kemira, and Tony Clinch, former industrials partner at CVC Capital.
Mr. Mozes holds both a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Politics from Hebrew University. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bazan Group–Oil Refinery Ltd and as a member of the board of directors of the Strauss Group. He also serves on several other institutional boards, including The Bank of Israel, Tel Aviv University and Ben-Gurion University.
