DTS Play-Fi™ Enabled Home Audio Systems from Phorus Can Now Stream Wirelessly from Windows® PCs; Expanded Music Choices for Play-Fi App for Android to Include Thousands of Internet Radio Stations Worldwide

2013 International CES

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Phorus, provider of high-performance wireless audio products and subsidiary of DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), today announced that its breakthrough Phorus PS1 Speaker and PR1 Receiver will soon be able to bring “Hi-Fi over Wi-Fi” to Windows® PCs via the DTS Play-Fi app. With a simple downloadable Windows applet, Phorus products will be the first to offer direct, whole-home audio streaming over standard Wi-Fi for the world’s leading desktop and portable PC platform, as well as the vast and growing Android portable device ecosystem.

In addition, Phorus has added more streaming music service options to the DTS Play-Fi app for Android with new integrated Internet radio broadcast support. With the free upgrade to the DTS Play-Fi app, users can access thousands of popular Internet radio stations from across the globe such as NPR, BBC, ESPN Radio, Radio Disney, Voice of America, and Fox News Radio, as well as popular Internet Radio stations like 1.fm, local AM/FM stations and Sports Radio Streaming, all with high quality audio over a standard Wi-Fi network.

Phorus is showcasing both the Windows applet and the Internet radio features within the DTS Play-Fi app for Android at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and will be releasing them soon to new and existing customers.

“At Phorus, we understand that music today is all about convenience and choice, particularly when so many people are streaming from smartphones, tablets and PCs,” said Dannie Lau, founder and general manager of Phorus, a subsidiary of DTS, Inc. “That is why we created a speaker system that brings the ease of wireless audio to the vastly underserved Android market, and now to the millions of consumers using their Windows laptops and notebooks as well. We are also delighted to bring such a wealth of new listening options to our platform with the new Internet radio broadcasting service.”

Using the DTS Play-Fi app, both the new Windows PC driver and the DTS Play-Fi app for Android stream Hi-Fi audio directly over standard Wi-Fi networks, with bit-for-bit accuracy, to DTS Play-Fi connected speakers and receivers throughout the home. Now, with the DTS Play-Fi Windows driver, users can stream audio from almost any music source on the computer, including subscription music services, local files, network drives, cloud services, Internet radio, or websites directly to any DTS Play-Fi-enabled speaker system. It also gives users full control of the home speaker network—allowing users to set up, link, and stream audio to one speaker system or multiple speaker systems throughout the home at once.

Phorus’ DTS Play-Fi enabled PS1 Speaker, PR1 Receiver, and App launched in October 2012 as the first wireless home audio system built from the ground up for Android devices. The Phorus PS1 Speaker ($199) and Phorus PR1 Receiver ($149) are both available now from the Phorus store and Amazon.com. The Phorus DTS Play-Fi app is free and available on the Google Play store and in the Amazon App Marketplace.
