GBOB voting system online

10 September 2009--HKGFM.net is supporting the biggest global live music competition with worldwide coverage on the China Battle and now everyone can vote for their favourite act. For a band to win in GBOB, they not only have to satisfy the judges and the audience on the night, but they also need to make an impression with votes on the HKGFM.net website. Blaze Hackman, Music Director of HKGFM.net commented "This is an awesome opportunity for people to vote for their favourite bands in this massive worldwide competition. For the bands to be successful, playing well and having that performance transform into votes on the HKGFM website is crucial."

HKGFM.net continues to break ground in opening up internet radio to a part of the world that has long been neglected for quality and choice. Well now that has changed, and the music of the world is at everyone's fingertips. With 6 channels to choose from and 2 more coming very soon, HKGFM has the resources to promote music and artists from all over the world.

HKGFM.net's own Alternative / Indie channel is one of the best ways for Artists & Bands to have their music heard, not just in Asia, but across the globe. And this fact has not gone unnoticed by many in the music industry. HKGFM regularly plays & promotes over 50 unsigned acts from all points of the globe, including Asia, Australia, Sweden, Germany, Finland, France, USA, UK, Canada, Austria and more. Simply by sending their material to HKGFM, bands are been heard, recognized and able to make sales of their music to the world.

Each of the five cities winners in GBOB China will battle out in Hong Kong in November 2009 to see who will represent China in the World Final of Global Battle of the Bands in London, England and the chance to win the grand prize of US$100,000 in band development (1 week in a top London recording studio with a producer, a 10 date United Kingdom tour and 10,000 USD in cash.)   The competition in China started in August and over 200 bands are expected to participate and only one can represent China in London, England in December 2009.

SSS - finalist in GBOB Beijing

Chris B, National Director of GBOB China, "More and more focus is on China to produce the next big band that is un-manufactured and playing real music. HKGFM.net makes it possible for the artists to be heard and discovered, and with the new voting system online, it gives the bands a chance to truly discover how well their music measures up."

In 2008, there were 28 countries taking part.  The 2008 World Final GBOB judges; comprised Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols bassist/songwriter), Jim Lowe (producer: Stereophonics, Charlatans etc) and Ben Adams (ex-member of A1 and now producer) and they all agreed that China would be the country to watch at 2009 finals.  "Clearly Killer Soap put the world on notice that Chinese bands are ready to take the world stage in rock music" said Matt Walker, organiser of the Global Battle of the bands competition.  "The bands enthusiasm, sound and great vocals really got the judges attention" he said.

Hear the bands on-air at HKGFM.net, vote for your favourites and get ready for GBOB (China).
