KFAR SABA, Israel & AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--N-trig, providers of DuoSense® technology combining pen and capacitive multi-touch in a single device, today announced, that it's technology is being integrated into Lenovo's new ThinkPad T400s. In addition to enabling the first true multi-touch laptop, the launch of the ThinkPad T400s also marks N-trig’s expansion into the APAC marketplace. Already working with both Dell and HP, N-trig continues to expand and enhance relationships with the world’s leading OEMs to ensure end-users a seamless and natural transition from mouse to multi-touch.
“We are delighted to work with Lenovo, and with their move to expand enterprise notebooks to include multi-touch, we have the rare opportunity to both witness and participate in a new business computing standard. No longer will users reach for a mouse — that old peripheral that is one of our major headaches when traveling or in meetings,” said Lior Lubinsky, General Manager of N-trig APAC. “We are using our expertise in the enterprise market to ensure that businesspeople have the most innovative multi-touch technology, and appropriate tools, specifically designed to increase user efficiency and enhance the work environment.”
N-trig’s DuoSense technology is transforming the business marketplace, enabling users to move away from the confines of traditional interface devices, by offering a new approach to computing that accommodates the modern, on-the-move lifestyle. The multi-touch capabilities facilitate a natural hands-on computing® experience, eliminating the need for a mouse and making mobile computing a more fluid and simple process which facilitates increased productivity while in the office, or on the road, by enabling the user to literally pick up the computer and run with it.
“Multi-touch lays the foundation for a better user interface. DisplaySearch forecasts that the market for touch screens with multi-touch capability will grow from $0.8 B in 2008 to over $4B in 2015," said Dr. Jennifer Colegrove, Director of display technologies at DisplaySearch. “The PC industry is evolving away from the point and click interface to the more intuitive touch interface. As multi-touch technology will be in the Window 7 operation system, we are going to continue to see more OEMs adopting multi-touch.”
Lenovo’s ThinkPad T400s further validates the market trend towards touchscreen computing, bringing the first multi-touch enabled notebook to the marketplace. Built with N-trig’s DuoSense digitizer, the ThinkPad T400s boasts a 14.1” screen and is a lightweight platform. The ThinkPad T400s currently runs on Vista and XP Pro, both systems support multi-touch gestures. Upon the public availability of Windows 7 the ThinkPad T400s will be able to utilize the true multi-touch technology of supporting up to four fingers.
N-trig DuoSense technology allows business users to take a Hands-on® approach to presentations, reports and every day work, offering them all the control and efficiency of direct interaction with their PCs. For businesses, this new multi-touch era brings a more efficient use of computing assets and a more engaged workforce. Engineers and designers can now run CAD programs that allow them to take advantage of multiple finger gestures, using two fingers for manipulation (zoom, scroll), three for 3-D and four to hold and control an area while the stylus works as an anchor point. This eliminates the need for going back and forth with the mouse and keyboard, enabling a more direct way to interface with an on-screen design, and manipulate and configure it more precisely.
N-trig DuoSense solution can currently be found in Dell’s Latitude XT/XT2 and HP’s TouchSmart tx2. In conjunction with the public launch of Windows 7 this fall, the company will also be announcing additional OEM deals.
