—Realizing One Quarter the Size of Older Models (4mm square) and Twice the Electrical Current—
SAITAMA, Japan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Toko, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of electronics parts, has announced that it has succeeded in developing a next-generation coiled power inductor (2.5x2.0x1.2mm). Mass-production is slated to begin in April of 2010. In recent years, the personal electronics markets, including those for cell phones and smart phones, digital cameras, etc., have continued to advance the need for smaller, thinner products with more features and more advanced functionality. To respond to these demands, we have worked to develop smaller, thinner products using low-resistance coils and highly dense flat power lines as well metallic magnetic materials that resist magnetic saturation and can be used for direct currents.
The coiled power inductor we've developed is approximately eighty percent smaller in element volume size than our older model (4mm square). It was developed using proprietary materials, structures and methods (for which we have filed patents). We've also succeeded in improving the current values by a factor of two or more, with a wide inductance corresponding to 10microH. In addition, by combining the coil and the core into a single unit our design was able to drastically reduce the audible noise normally associated with coils.
This product will be on display at CEATEC JAPAN 2009, which begins on 6 October 2009.
Principal Applications
cell phones, smart phones, digital still cameras, etc.
Toko, Inc.
Toko developed the world's first intermediate frequency transformer (IFT) for transistor radios in 1955 and has been contributing to society and the growth of the electronic manufacturing sector in the more than fifty years since then as a dedicated manufacturer of electronic parts. Presently, our coil business is being further developed as a core component for our company, helping us to creatively develop products that will lead us into the future, relying on Toko technology, to help foster and maintain a better environment for all of us.
