—Seeing How Much Energy You Use Will Better Promote a Sense of Conservation—
TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On October 20th, OKI Network Integration (OKINET) will begin offering CoolClover, an IT device energy management system designed to comprehensively control and save energy for IT devices, including computers and other office equipment, using their power settings and your office’s networks. When using this system, businesses will be better able to manage the amount of energy consumed by IT devices and will be further able to conserve energy as a result. In addition, the display of ranking lists, indicating the degree of conservation each user contributes, enables more communication among system uses and promotes greater awareness of environmental issues.
Environmental issues, including global warming, are growing ever more serious, and more and more legislative approaches, including the Global Warming Reduction Act and the Revised Energy Conservation Act, which will go into effect in 2010, are being advanced as well. At the same time, the amount of energy consumed by the constantly growing number of IT devices, including computers, servers and printers, as more and more business move into the digital age, is forcing businesses to adopt environmental policies, the majority of which, however, remain ineffective.
This system implements energy conservation management without impeding any users by simply installing dedicated software on office computers that can then control power settings via the office networks. In addition, you can click on the Cool icon, displayed on screens for users away from their computers, to easily enter an energy-conserving mode. In addition, data charting each computer’s power use and carbon dioxide emissions is regularly compiled on a management server, and that data can then easily be tabulated and displayed online as rankings. When this system is used in your office, it will become part of your office conservation policy and it will be immediately obvious how much energy you are saving, and will further promote a better awareness of conservation among individual users. Furthermore, the accumulated data can be used to formulate energy conservation plans in conjunction with the Revised Energy Conservation Act.
