Starting Fall 2009, All InbeEdu Students Will Train Using the Powerful Gamebryo LightSpeed Technology

CHONGQING CITY, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Emergent Game Technologies signed an agreement earlier this summer with Interactive Believe (InbeEdu) at Chongqing University that creates an engineer certification training program and integrates Gamebryo directly into the educational curriculum. The agreement was signed at a public ceremony as a key program of the 12th China Chongqing International Investment and Global Sourcing Fair and was attended by dignitaries including Xilai Bo, former minister of the Ministry of Commerce, member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and secretary of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, and Hongju Wang, mayor of Chongqing. Secretary Xilai Bo and Mayor Hongju Wang were joined at the signing ceremony by Alex Peng, chairman of InbeEdu, and David Brame, vice president of Asia-Pacific sales, Emergent,

Under the new deal, InbeEdu has also signed a master licensing agreement to use Emergent’s Gamebryo LightSpeed technology in their game development engineering courses. Starting this fall, all game development classes will be taught using Gamebryo LightSpeed and students can work toward receiving a Certified Emergent User certificate. Emergent has created an advisory board comprised of local game designers that will approve curriculum for the Certified Emergent User program, along with promising training to faculty and related technical support and services.

InbeEdu will cooperate with Chongqing University and other universities to promote this certification training program to meet the growing demand for video game developers who are proficient in using Gamebryo and the newly introduced LightSpeed.

“Gamebryo is one of the most popular game engines used in China today, and with the burgeoning game development business here, it is imperative that we educate enough students to fill the industry’s demand,” said Kevin Yang, InbeEdu. “We are working hand in hand with Emergent to create a full curriculum to educate the next generation of game designers. Meeting the increasingly sophisticated needs of studios across China is important to keeping a competitive edge in the gaming space.”

Emergent’s commitment to operations in the People’s Republic of China is demonstrated by its continuous increase in local support. Emergent has extensive client relationships with studios throughout China and the company has had a physical office in the region since 2007.

“Innovation has always been at the heart of the Chinese game development market and they deliver unique titles and concepts not seen anywhere else. We’ve only just scratched the surface of the potential in China, and with this unique partnership with InbeEdu and its cooperated universities Emergent has not only pledged our ongoing support to help this market through its next generation of game development but to accelerate it,” said Geoff Selzer, CEO of Emergent. “We’re particularly honored that they have chosen to work with LightSpeed, as it’s the only professional built technology available on a worldwide basis that is powerful and flexible enough that studios can build their future upon it.”

By providing core technology that is powerful and flexible enough to create titles for any genre on multiple platforms, Emergent helps studios lower the mounting costs associated with creating high quality assets, building tech for multiple platforms and developing title-specific technologies. Studios can use the time and money saved to improve gameplay, graphics and the overall quality of the title. Gamebryo’s competitive advantages, including their modular framework - enabling studios to customize their pipeline - have prompted studios across the globe to choose Emergent’s platform for more than 300 successful projects across 15 different game genres. The newly introduced Gamebryo LightSpeed offers studios an all-in-one system that enables rapid prototyping, rapid iteration and real-time, on-target updates, simplifying game development with data driven framework.
