April in Dubai promises to be a month of major concerts; two of the biggest names in entertainment, Bruno Mars and Yanni will perform live, in addition to performances by the American band Train and Katya Apekisheva, one of Europe’s renowned pianists, from Russia.
The string of concerts is among the top events of April that are being featured by Dubai Calendar, an initiative by Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, to tap into and develop the events sector in Dubai in line with its objective of ensuring that the Emirate stays a family tourism destination all year round.
Superstar Bruno Mars will wow fans in Dubai on his Middle East debut on 12 April with a repertoire of his greatest hits. The global music icon has sold over 45 million singles worldwide, with over one billion views on YouTube.
Legendary Greek composer, Yanni returns to the city and will perform live on 4 and 5 April, as part of his World Without Borders Tour 2013 in a highly anticipated concert.
Performing at full steam, on 5 April, will be the Californian band Train, who will be in the UAE, as a part of the du World Music Festival, while changing the tune and tenor of the entertainment programme will be the acclaimed London-based Russian pianist Katya Apekisheva, who will give a classical performance in Dubai on 29 April.
Art, culture and theatre will happen in Dubai in a big way in April dominated by the Middle East Film and Comic Con 2013 from 5-6 April. The fun culture-oriented event, which will feature celebrities, artists and musicians among the participants, will focus on a wide range of activities including film, TV, comics, manga, animation, collectibles and pop art.
The famous musical thriller Sweeney Todd will be staged at the Centrepoint Theatre in DUCTAC, Mall of the Emirates from 9-13 April, while Don Quixote, a ballet based on an episode taken from the famous novel by the same name by Miguel de Cervantes, will be held from 17-26 April.
Lifestyle happens in Dubai with Bride Dubai from 10-13 April, which is the largest and most luxurious bridal and fashion show in the Middle East while Fashion Forward from 26-29 April is a series of fashion events by well known designers and featuring the latest trends and designs.
As business happens in Dubai, technology geeks and business travellers are bound to make a beeline to GITEX Shopper 2013, the region’s biggest and best consumer electronics exhibition that for the first time will have a Spring edition from 3-6 April.
