The 6th Annual Ultra High-rise Building Summit organized by JFPS Group with the support of ECADI (East China Architectural Design and Research Institute) had already been held successfully in Shanghai Marriott Hotel Hongqiao on March 27th~28th, 2013. With the topic of “Green and Economical Buildings Lead the Trend of Ultra High-rise”, this summit has successfully attracted more than 600 professionals from Architecture design institute, Real estate developer, Property management firm, Engineering consulting firm, General Contractor, Building solution provider, Building equipment provider to get together with discussion covered about 40 hot topics, and about 50 professional speakers gave their splendid speeches and shared practical experience.
In these two days, this Annual Summit got great support of numerous professionals and relevant medias from industries of architecture, real estate. A lot of famous architecture design organization, engineering consulting firm, and building equipment provider joined this summit such as ECADI, China Academy of Building Research, Baiyun, G-CRYSTAL, Dassault Systems, Arup, Samsung C&T Corporation, LERA, SOM, KPF, Aconex, Henn Architekten, 2DEFINE Architecture, Zeidler, IBM, Windtech, BMT, RWDI, Lerch Bates, Benoy, HOK, Gensler (without ranking order).
The summit started after opening speech by Ms. Catherine Zhang and speed networking among participants. Firstly, the President of ECADI---Mr. Junjie Zhang gave the warmed opening speech with the topic of “The Development of Modern Super-tall Buildings in China”, and next, the Managing Director of SOM---Mr. Kenneth A. Lewis made the first speech of this summit, gave the audience a sense of the incredibly complex construction activities on the World Trade Center site and also dive in to more detail on the particular areas of investigation that are unique to this project; The Partner from 2DEFINE Architecture---Mr. Marshall Strabala who made wonderful speeches successfully in past summits explained the integration of architectural spirit and urban environment through several case studies of ultra high-rise buildings in the world which reflect topic of this summit perfectly. Besides hot topics communication in Master Class and Plenary Meeting, this summit provided more professional and deeper communication platform for participants from respective specific fields by setting up two focused streams, the main topics covered Structure and Design, MEP Design, Façade Engineering, Fire Protection, BIM Application, Hot Building Analysis and Project Management, Sustainable and Intelligent Buildings, Wind Engineering, Comparison between China and Overseas Buildings and Vertical Transportation.
Besides the excellent speeches by speakers, in the part of “Panel Discussion” in “BIM application” and “Fire Protection” streams, the high-level speakers from ECADI, Dassault Systems, AkzoNobel etc. developed active discussion in two main topics as “Multi-lateral cooperation and coordination under the trend of BIM application” and “Future structural steel fire protection standards in China” with vivid case studies.
Not only did this summit improve communications between different partners, but also laid the solid foundation for deep cooperation and development in future. This summit achieved great success from whichever way including speaker levels, on-site interactive atmosphere and post-event feedback of participants, a lot of participants expressed their willingness to attend next annual summit.
