MUNICH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Charitybuzz, the global leader in online charity auctions, in partnership with Yahoo! announced the results of the two week auction to join Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer for lunch. Mayer generously donated her time in an effort to raise funds for Aspire East Palo Alto Charter School (EPACS). The auction winner Ralph C. Martin, CEO of EMIRAT AG based out of Munich, Germany, will dine one-on-one with Mayer at the Yahoo! headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA and learn what it is like to lead one of the world’s most well-known tech companies.
“It is a great opportunity for us to donate to EPACS and into a project that gives young people the tools to become successful students with all these opportunities,” said winning bidder Ralph C. Martin. “I look forward to meet one of the top managers in the world and think it will be an interesting and fun lunch break.”
Ralph C. Martin (47) founded EMIRAT AG in 2004. Since then he managed the company to be one of the most innovative promotional risk management agencies in the world.
Net proceeds from the auction will benefit EPACS. Founded in 1997, EPACS is a K-6 public charter school, part of Aspire Public Schools, dedicated to preparing all students for success in college and beyond. Despite serving 95% low-income students, EPACS and its sister high school, Aspire East Palo Alto Phoenix Academy, boasts a 100% college acceptance rate—for its entire history, all graduating seniors have been admitted to four-year universities. Aspire Public Schools is a national non-profit charter management organization serving over 12,500 students. It is the highest-performing high-poverty school system in the state of California.
“We are so appreciative of Mr. Martin's generosity and enthusiasm to have such a positive impact on our students," said James Willcox, CEO of Aspire Public Schools. "Thanks to supporters like Marissa Mayer our local mission has national attention, and we are grateful for her time and interest in Aspire EPACS."
Mayer joins a long list of influential business leaders and celebrity icons who have auctioned their time through Charitybuzz to benefit nonprofit organizations, including Tim Cook, President Clinton, Elon Musk, Michael Bloomberg, Harvey Weinstein and many more. To date, Charitybuzz has raised more than $80 million for nonprofits through its online auctions with the world’s most powerful figures spanning business, technology, entertainment, politics and sports.
"Charitybuzz is thrilled to have raised such a significant amount in partnership with Marissa Mayer for EPACS’ exemplary programs preparing students to thrive in high school, college and beyond. Our generous winning bidder will have the chance to truly live his dream experience with one-on-one access to one of the greatest minds in business, while making a real difference in these students’ lives,” said Coppy Holzman, CEO and Founder of Charitybuzz.
