Oberthur Technologies Provides over 8 Million ePassports and the Dedicated End-to-End System to the Philippines

COLOMBES, France--()--Oberthur Technologies, one of the world’s largest providers of security and identification solutions and services based on smart card technologies, today announced that it has provided over 8 million ePassports to the Philippines, as well as a dedicated end-to-end system.

Since 2009, Oberthur Technologies has provided the Philippine Government with a secure and high-quality system to the Department of Foreign Affairs but also the electronic covers to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for the national passport. This full end-to-end ePassport system was set up and commissioned on time, including enrolment, personalization and central information systems with AFIS¹.

Since then and through open tenders, Oberthur Technologies has supplied quality e-covers to the Government of the Philippines. The Philippine Passport is compliant with the ICAO² requirements and is equipped with a tamper-proof microchip bearing the citizen’s identification and personal information. Moreover, this ePassport contains biometric features and Common Criteria certification.
