TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The production team of the Action Cam Aerial Photography Project—launched to capture never-before-seen outdoor images with the Action Cam, a compact video camcorder from Sony, installed on remote-controlled helicopters (RC helicopters)—has produced a video of a Japanese dam. The second in the series of videos under this project, this one will be released on both a special Sony Action Cam website and YouTube.
There is a mini “dam boom” going on in Japan: books of photographs of dams have been published, and collectors’ cards are being given away at major dam sites nationwide. Hence the choice of the dam theme by the Action Cam Aerial Photography Project’s production crew for their latest video.
At the site of the videography, the Houheikyou Dam (in Hokkaido, Japan), up to two tonnes of water per second is discharged from the dam’s floodgates. The video captures a powerful water discharge, as well as magnificent views of the immense, over 100-meter-high dam, captured by Action Cams installed on two RC helicopters flown simultaneously by professionals. The fast, dynamic footage made possible by RC helicopters is sure to amaze.
A “making of” video, also shows how the Sony Action Cams were installed on special, multi-rotor helicopters (called “multicopters”), how they were flown very close to the water being discharged, and other video taken behind the scenes.
The Houheikyou Dam video is the second in a series from the Action Cam Aerial Photography Project, following Sony’s Action Cam on RC Helicopter filming Gunkanjima (Battleship island/Hashima).
