WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Latin American Business Council (CEAL) of Honduras issued a statement commending the efforts made in reaching an agreement to resolve the political crisis in Honduras. CEAL stated:

“We congratulate President Roberto Michelletti and Former President Manuel Zelaya and their delegations plus all other parties involved in the Guaymuras Dialogue for reaching a final Accord last night -- an Accord reached by Hondurans for Hondurans -- without the dictates or interventions of other parties. The issues were difficult but in the final analysis the solution had to come from Hondurans themselves.

We appreciate the constructive role played by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and, most recently, her representatives Assistant Secretary of State Tom Shannon, his deputy Craig Kelly, the White House National Security Council representative for the Western Hemisphere, Dan Restrepo, and U.S. Ambassador Hugo Llorens in encouraging the Dialogue to continue and not giving up when important difficulties in the negotiations occurred.

Finally, we commend the statements made by the U.S. Government, the OAS, and the international community vowing to support fair, free and transparent presidential elections on November 29th and we trust all governments to recognize the choice made by the people of Honduras on that day. We also hope and trust that the international community will be vigilant that every provision of the Accord will be followed by all parties and, if there are any violations, the United States Government and the international community will immediately condemn the violator and insist on a return to full compliance.”
