LONDON -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --
The collaboration of Celsis International and CoValence Laboratories has been named the 2013 Supply & Demand Chain Executive (SDCE) Top 100 –“100 Great Supply Chain Projects” for delivering measurable gains in ROI through cost reductions and increased efficiencies in the supply chain.
CoValence Laboratories significantly improved its product release process by implementing a rapid screening system from Celsis, a global leader in rapid microbial testing.
“We were able to eliminate four days of wait time on finished goods,” said Pete Vlcek, Chief Operating Officer and VP of Operations for CoValence. “Using Celsis, we streamlined our manufacturing cycle so our clients can deliver their product to market faster.”
Arizona-based CoValence Laboratories is a contract manufacturer of custom and private-label products for the beauty industry, known for its high-end and unique skin care formulations. The company previously outsourced its microbial testing to an analytical laboratory but became frustrated with the long wait time for results.
"Bringing the Celsis system in house has not only enabled our Quality Control department to complete their tasks quicker, it has also had a direct and positive impact on the customer service CoValence strives to deliver,” added Vlcek. “Over the course of a year, this means more sales for both our customers and for CoValence.”
The Celsis Advance™ rapid detection system selected by CoValence delivers the fastest time in the industry for manufacturers to confirm the absence of microbial contamination – essential information needed to release products – detecting bacteria, yeast and even slow-growing moulds within 24 hours.
“Supply chain oriented contract manufacturers like CoValence know they must bring more than a lower price to the table when competing for customers,” said Celsis President and CEO Jay LeCoque. “Celsis technology enables contract manufacturers to significantly reduce turnaround time and reduce their manufacturing costs, which helps differentiate their services in a crowded marketplace while improving their profit margins” he explained.
“We are very pleased to share this supply chain award with CoValence. It is always encouraging for us when our customers fully recognise the cost savings potential of using Celsis as part of their Lean Quality approach to product manufacturing,” said LeCoque.
"The projects featured in the '100' article can serve as a roadmap for supply chain executives looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their own operations," said Barry Hochfelder, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. The 2013 Top 100 awards recognise solution and service providers that help their customers move toward supply chain excellence.
"Our goal with this year's '100' is to put the spotlight on successful and innovative transformation projects that are delivering bottom-line value to small, medium and large enterprises across the different functions that comprise the supply chain," added Hochfelder.
