KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia & SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Comintel Corporation Bhd and EnVerv, Inc. announced today their collaboration on a family of products for lighting control as well as single-phase and three-phase smart meters where EnVerv’s EV8000 Power-Line Communications (PLC) modem System on Chip (SoC) serves as the multi-protocol communications engine.
“We have chosen EnVerv as our communications technology partner due to the flexibility of their multi-protocol, multi-band SoC platform where a single hardware design enables us to serve all of our target markets,” said Lim Keng Hock, Managing Director of Comintel Corporation. “EnVerv’s superior performance and their unique transformer crossing capability enable pre-payment and post-payment AMI networks without the need of cellular backhaul, saving our customers significant operational expenses.”
“We are very pleased to expand our collaboration with Comintel as we form a strategic partnership,” said Reza Mirkhani, Sr. Vice President at EnVerv. “Comintel has a proven track record in implementing large scale telecommunications projects for the public service sector in Malaysia as well as in Indonesia and South Asia. We look forward to a long working relationship with Comintel and delivering on a wide range of products for the pre-payment, post-payment and lighting markets.”
The EV8000 is a fully integrated single-chip PLC SoC that includes comprehensive modem functionality from the power line to the network layer and has programmable frequency bands, covering CENELEC-A, FCC and ARIB bands without the need for chip or module hardware changes. Furthermore, the EV8000 soft-modem can be programmed to operate in ITU-T G.9903 (G3-PLC), ITU-T G.9904 (PRIME) and IEEE P1901.2 modes simply by downloading their respective firmware code to the chip remotely over the power line network.
