CRAWLEY, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A major power equipment plant in Sweden wanted to replace their existing oil sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps, because of problems with reliability and costly maintenance. They have replaced them with Edwards’ GXS dry screw industrial vacuum pumps, which are providing excellent performance together with high reliability and low maintenance, and the power plant is impressed with the results.
The Swedish plant, a global leader in power and automation technologies, specialises in developing and manufacturing various high voltage transmission equipment. They use a number of vacuum processes which are involved in the production of high voltage equipment, requiring vacuum pumps mainly for use on drying and filling applications, as well as gas recirculation of SF6 (sulphur hexafluoride).
Working with Edwards’ distributor in Sweden, Advanced Vacuum Distribution, the plant has been replacing their old rotary vane vacuum pumps with Edwards’ GXS dry screw vacuum pumps. They have replaced several pumps so far, with more opportunities for replacement in the future.
The GXS vacuum pump is highly robust and reliable, even when handling harsh industrial processes. With no unplanned down time, and longer intervals between services, the GXS provides substantial savings on service and maintenance costs compared to traditional wet, oil sealed pumps. The GXS delivers faster and better ultimate vacuum resulting in increased productivity and improved product quality.
“We are delighted that Edwards were able to help this customer benefit from GXS’ high reliability, energy efficiency and excellent performance combined with minimal maintenance and long service intervals,” commented Franck Merieux, Market Sector Manager at Edwards. “The GXS design is founded on Edwards’ many years of experience and success with dry vacuum pumps operating on the harshest of processes.”
