BERLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--When the leading international trade fair for transport technology begins on Tuesday, 23 September in Berlin it will be breaking all previous records in many respects. This anniversary event, the tenth edition, is the largest ever in the history of InnoTrans. A total of 2,758 exhibitors from 55 countries are occupying all available space at Berlin ExpoCenter City to present innovative railway technology and services. This represents a ten per cent increase in the number of exhibitors compared with the previous InnoTrans. And this year foreign exhibitors account for 61 per cent of the total, another new record.
With 140 products making their world premiere InnoTrans also demonstrates the impetus that it provides for innovations and its role as the leading marketing platform for the global rail industry. No fewer than 145 innovative rail vehicles, the largest number ever, are being presented on the outdoor display area and on the rail tracks. During the four days of this trade show Messe Berlin is expecting more than 100,000 trade visitors from all over the world.
InnoTrans has reached new highs
“InnoTrans is a real phenomenon“, according to the Chief Executive Officer of Messe Berlin, Dr. Christian Göke. “Since its launch in 1996 InnoTrans has never ceased to expand, becoming the industry’s leading event in record time. Aptly marking its tenth anniversary the trade fair has set new records, with an overall display area of 200,000 square metres and a renewed increase in exhibitors.“
International participation is a distinguishing feature
Since the previous InnoTrans was held the proportion of foreign exhibitors has risen by four percentage points to 61 per cent. In addition to the global players in this industry it is the many international suppliers and rail companies, together with the 35 industrial and trade associations from 21 countries, that are the defining feature of InnoTrans 2014. Other exhibitors at this year’s event include service providers and well-known research facilities from Germany and abroad.
Debuts: exhibitors from Argentina, Morocco, Belarus, Lithuania and Macedonia are participating in InnoTrans for the first time and this year the proportion of non-European exhibitors has reached 17 per cent for the first time, with the highest growth rates coming from Asia and from North and South America. China and the USA are particularly prominent in this respect. Compared with 2012 the number of Chinese exhibitors has risen by 41 per cent, and those from the United States by 71 per cent. Once again the vast majority of exhibitors at InnoTrans have come from the main European markets, with Germany, Italy and France being most strongly represented at the trade show.
