PETALUMA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cyan (NYSE:CYNI), a leading provider of SDN, NFV, and packet-optical solutions for network operators, today announced support for Cisco ASR 901, ASR 903, ASR 9000 and ME 3600 platforms, as well as the Juniper MX960, MX480, and MX2010 platforms in Cyan’s Blue Planet SDN Platform. The new Blue Planet functionality allows customers to automate, manage, inventory, and provision Ethernet services across networks built with these devices.
“Cyan’s Blue Planet SDN and NFV Platform has been used by customers for more than two years in multi-vendor environments,” said Michael Howard, principal, Infonetics Research. “A big goal of service providers for SDN and NFV is the ability to oversee their multi-vendor networks, so the addition of support for these Cisco and Juniper devices significantly increases the number and types of networks that Blue Planet can now automate and orchestrate.”
Blue Planet SDN-based network automation technology has already been proven to dramatically shorten time-to-revenue by reducing provisioning times from months to hours or minutes in networks around the globe. Blue Planet SDN-based control over Cisco and Juniper equipment is based on access to standards-based interfaces such as CLI and NETCONF/YANG, and provides a critical value-add to service providers who find the management and provisioning of those networks to be complex, time-consuming, and operationally expensive.
“Customers are looking for us to integrate and orchestrate Cisco and Juniper based on their perspective that the element management systems and SDN tools available today for these devices are not capable of providing the multi-vendor service automation, management, and abstraction that Blue Planet delivers,” said Michael Hatfield, president, Cyan. “This is required for the network transformation our customers are rapidly embracing.”
Support for Ethernet service delivery across the indicated Cisco and Juniper devices is available for demonstration and customer trials immediately. Commercial availability will be part of the next Blue Planet software release, currently scheduled for release by Cyan in Q4 2014.
