KINGSTON, N.Y. -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

TechCity, an international commerce center located in New York’s Hudson Valley region, is emerging as a “food hub,” providing a home to some of the numerous innovators in the use of new and sustainable technologies for the production, processing, distribution and marketing of food and agricultural products.

Among TechCity’s attributes are its location and ease of access to New York City, Boston and other markets around the northeast, as well as its proximity to Stewart and Albany airports and the Hudson River, one of the most important waterways in the region.

“With companies in the production and distribution space already in occupancy at TechCity and plans being developed for a commercial refrigeration facility on the property, we stand poised to become a center for the food and agricultural industries,” said TechCity Chairman Alan Ginsberg. “Our plans should be of particular interest to global companies – both those seeking access to U.S. markets to distribute their products and those seeking to create markets overseas for local food and agricultural companies.”

“In addition, our campus environment includes existing facilities that lend themselves to educational uses or to workforce housing, enabling overseas entities to meet all these needs in one location.”

TechCity is also a participant in New York State’s “Start-Up New York” program, which offers the potential for significant tax advantages to certain business. Launched by Governor Cuomo, businesses that qualify for this innovative program can operate 100% tax-free for 10 years. At the same time, the program gives businesses access to world-class higher education institutions, including industry experts and advanced research laboratories.

TechCity is already home to such companies as Hudson Valley Harvest, which works with farms to provide locally grown food to consumers, and Farm to Table Co-Packers, a full service contract packaging facility that operates a full commercial kitchen, a dedicated processing line, a full bakery and an incubator/test kitchen.

The diverse components of the TechCity campus make it ideal for a multi-faceted user, with space that was originally developed for a leading international technology company available for transformation to R&D, education, manufacturing or distribution.

TechCity’s 256-acres currently include several existing buildings, with large amounts of land available for development and an approved master plan for a diverse, campus environment. And the surrounding community is known as a center for art, music and culture, for its affordable housing stock, excellent educational system and diverse population – all within a 90-minute drive to New York City.

TechCity’s advantages include:

  • Proximity to a regional and national transportation network;
  • A rail spur off a CSX line that enables distribution to regions throughout the US;
  • A large fresh water supply for cooling;
  • Ample supply and easy access to gas and electrical service, sufficient for data centers and back-up generators;
  • Access to a diverse fiber optic network.
