MACON, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--KaMin LLC announces that it will revise its energy surcharge program, effective January 1, 2010, or as contracts allow. This surcharge applies to all slurry, spray-dried hydrous, and calcined kaolin grades sold to the paper industry globally.
“We are fortunate that natural gas prices have been unusually low in 2009, and the Energy Information Administration anticipates that high storage levels and resilient domestic production will keep prices around $5/MMBTU in the coming months,” said Tom Anderskow, Commercial Vice President. “However, our adjustment to lower volume levels during this recession has forced us to examine every element of our cost structure, and kaolin processing is energy intensive. We are therefore adjusting the threshold for our 2010 energy surcharge program from $8/MMBTU to $6/MMBTU. The incremental surcharges by product type will remain the same.”
