Hong Kong--(Business Wire)--The grand finale of The Underground x Parsons Music Battle of Bands 2015 played out in spectacular style against the backdrop of the AIA Great European Carnival, thousands of festival-goers, Victoria Harbour and the sparkling Hong Kong skyline.
From the 100 bands who started the competition, just ten bands had survived the heats and semi-finals to contest the finals. And the winners, delighting the crowd with great live performances, were Les Gromechkos in the open category and The Pansiesin the student category.
The Battle of the Bands 2015 was an initiative of The Underground and Parsons Music, aiming to discover and demonstrate some of Hong Kong’s best independent music and give bands the opportunity to showcase their talent on an open-air stage at a major event.
The finals were hard-fought between highly polished bands with diverse styles. The skills on show were recognized by a range of individual prizes. In the student category, Parallel Horizons took out best vocalist and Sabian best drummer, while Smile with Aye claimed the awards for Warwick best bassist and Gibson best guitarist. The open category awards went to:
- Stereo Is The Answer – best vocalist
- Zooooom – Casio best keyboardist
- 11:PM – Sabian best drummer

The prizes were handed out by expert music industry judges (below) who have all made outstanding contributions to Hong Kong music.
