Leading telecom solutions provider and China’s largest patent filer is Anaqua’s first client in Asia
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Anaqua, a leading provider of intellectual asset management (IAM) software and services, and Huawei Technologies, a leader in next-generation telecommunications network solutions, have completed the implementation of the ANAQUA IAM solution to help manage Huawei’s rapidly growing portfolio of inventions and patents.
Huawei serves 35 of the world's top 50 telecom operators with over one billion users worldwide. The company has over 87,500 employees, of whom 43% are dedicated to R&D, and had revenues of $23.3bn in 2008, a 46% increase over 2007. Huawei is an active participant in many networking standards organizations and had filed 35,773 patent applications as of December 2008. According to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Huawei was ranked as the largest applicant under WIPO's Patent Cooperation Treaty, with 1,737 applications in 2008.
“Huawei has been successful in the global market with its investment in R&D and intellectual property”, said Fan Zhiyong, Huawei’s Deputy Director, IPR Department. “We realized that our current in-house IP systems could not sustain the continued growth in our patent portfolio. We were pleased to find a commercial application, ANAQUA, which can deliver the automation we need as well as the tools to actively manage our portfolio and provide management reports.”
“We are very pleased to enter into this strategic relationship with Huawei, who conducted an in-depth assessment of our company and our solution before making their selection” said Priya Iyer, CEO of Anaqua. “As we enter into China and the broader Asian marketplace, we are proud to be working with this world leader in one of our fastest growing industry sectors, telecommunications.”
