Robust Solution for HDMI CEC and CDC; Enables HDMI Ethernet Channel and Audio Return Channel Testing
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Simplay Labs, LLC, the leading solutions provider of technologies, testing programs, development tools, and interoperability and performance design standards for the high-definition (HD) consumer electronics industry, today announced that its Simplay CEC Explorer SL 309 Development Tool has been officially recommended as a compliance test tool in the HDMI Compliance Test Specification (CTS) Version 1.4 as released on November 9, 2009. The CTS Version 1.4. is the latest version of the Compliance Test Specification which contains technical criteria and tests that all HDMI-enabled products must satisfy.
The Simplay CEC Explorer SL 309 Development Tool helps design engineers develop, simulate and debug all aspects of CEC (Consumer Electronics Control)/CDC (Capability, Discovery and Control) functionality in real time, and includes a powerful GUI (Graphical User Interface) that allows engineers to interface with their own product prototype by exercising and monitoring CEC/CDC performance. This test solution enables manufacturers and testing facilities to ensure interoperability and to meet the required HDMI Specification Version 1.4 CEC/CDC compliance verification.
“We believe that no other development tool in the market today handles both CEC and CDC, and has the range of capabilities as the Explorer SL 309. As manufacturers work to deliver their latest HDMI Version 1.4-enabled products, this tool can be an invaluable part of their development process,” said Joseph Lias, president of Simplay Labs. “The Explorer SL 309 fulfills our mission to help manufacturers ensure interoperability and reduce the time and cost to market.”
The Simplay Explorer SL 309 is:
- An officially recommended test tool for CEC testing.
- The only officially recommended test tool for CDC.
- The only tool that combines CEC and CDC debugging, emulation and “message visualization” capabilities.
- The test tool for the CDC portion of HDMI Ethernet Channel testing.
- The tool that offers testing of the HDMI Audio Return Channel through the CEC bus.
- The tool that allows design engineers to define custom tests through its powerful scripting interface.
