One step closer for winning the trip to Canada! The Underground is delighted to announce the five finalist bands who have been shortlisted from the semi-final votes. The finalist bands are:
· Stereo is the answer
· Bamboo Star
· Wan Chai Warriors
· Horizon (Shanghai)
· Seasons for Change
This year we have four Hong Kong bands and one Shanghai band in the final and only one of these bands will get the chance to represent China to perform at the Envolet Macadam alternative music festival in Quebec, Canada this September without paying a single penny for their flight tickets and accommodation! The winning band will perform at the festival and be included in the festival promotions. They will also have free entry to attend all stages and mingle with music professionals and other bands.
This year, the grand finale of Planetrox China 2015 will be held on 13th June 2015 (Saturday) at Orange Peel in Central. Each band will have 20 minutes to lure the judge panel and the audience through their musical talent. The final results will be decided by the judges and the audience together, (75% judges and 25% audience) . Judges confirmed are Davy, the drummer from LMF and
Aroom Studio owner, Jan Lo, vocalist from Qiu Hong (秋紅) and Douglas Parkes (Music Editor, Time Out Magazine Hong Kong)
It is the fifth year for The Underground to organisePlanetrox China in collaboration with the Quebec government. The competition aims at searching the best band in town to put them under the spotlight at the Envolet Macadam Festival each September. All the winning bands in the past gained an extensive exposure to the international audience at the festival, and also won a “once in a lifetime” experience to showcase their music talents in front of the world. Former winners include “Noughts& Exes”, "Shotgun Politics" and “WonderGarl” from Hong Kong; “Turtle Giant” from Macau. All the bands enjoyed this invaluable experience and some even describe it as “probably the best thing ever to happen to our band”.
