The SGS IT-Network of 745 Sites Across 102 Countries, Managed Globally by Reliance Globalcom
NEU-ISENBURG, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Reliance Globalcom, a leading global provider of managed network and communication services for multinational enterprises, carriers and consumers, has re-signed a five year agreement with Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) for its global wide area network (WAN) and global Internet Security Services. SGS is the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.
SGS were looking to improve security and enable high-bandwidth voice applications to be run over their global WAN, while reducing network management costs. Reliance Globalcom’s Hybrid VNO approach enabled a new fully-redundant hybrid network using Ethernet Layer 2, MPLS, VPLS and IPSec technologies to connect 745 sites in 102 countries across six continents, using Reliance core infrastructure and multiple local carriers. Reliance Globalcom’s global infrastructure provides dynamic bandwidth scaling, enabling SGS to match their exact requirements to business needs – and when combined with best-of-breed local service providers and technologies, SGS reduced network costs while increasing availability and performance.
The redesign of the network also includes a global security solution, procured using tailored providers and managed centrally with local, regional and global security gateways consisting of Firewall, Intrusion Detection Prevention and Antivirus.
“Reliance Globalcom combines the most appropriate technologies and infrastructures on a global basis to provide a cost-effective, optimized and fully-managed hybrid network solution,” said Jürgen Keller, Managing Director Central Europe at Reliance Globalcom. “We are looking forward to providing SGS with high quality services in the coming years, as our network provisioning approach continues to lower total network ownership costs and continues to support SGS as a global industry leader.”
Stefan Schnydrig, CIO at SGS explained, “The five year contract is an extension of the relationship that began in 2004 and reflects the consultative advice we receive. Reliance Globalcom manages the complexity of our very numerous, very site-specific requirements – more than 1,000 circuits from over 100 different local, regional and global carriers – within our network. Reliance Globalcom is our single point of contact for any network related issues, and provide us the flexibility to scale our operations rapidly, ensuring we are cost competitive in every market.”
