STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Odyssey Re Holdings Corp. announced today that it has received regulatory approval from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) to establish a representative office in China. The new office will be based in Beijing and led by Jane (Yan) Zhang.
OdysseyRe has been active in China for nearly 20 years. “China is a strategically important and evolving market. Establishing a local presence is beneficial to our business and will allow us to better serve our clients,” said Brian Young, CEO, Odyssey Re Holdings Corp.

Ms. Zhang, who will report to Mr. Ow, has more than 20 years of experience in China’s insurance industry. Previously, she served as the General Manager of Reinsurance at Bank of China Insurance Company for 11 years. Ms. Zhang began her career at Ping An and also worked for Zurich’s Beijing Rep. Office. She holds a Master’s degree in Insurance & Risk Management from Cass Business School, City University London and the ACII designation from the Chartered Insurance Institute in the U.K.
