AMSTERDAM--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To support an increasing need for transportation services between Europe and Asia, C.H. Robinson, one of the world’s largest logistics providers, has added two positions to its global forwarding team.
Oliver Volk has been appointed director of European development, Asia Global Forwarding. Oliver joins C.H. Robinson with over 25 years of international experience in freight forwarding. He began his career in 1990 in Munich, Germany, at ITG GmbH where he held a number of roles as air freight manager, assistant branch manager, and sales director. In 2011, Oliver joined CEVA Logistics in China, where he held the position of general manager of their Air Asia Pacific trade lane.
According to a recent report by Roland Berger and Barclays, the market for logistics services is increasing; especially in Asia and Europe, which have seen growth as high as 19% and 22% respectively in recent years. C.H. Robinson’s global development strategy is poised to support the growing logistics needs in both markets.
“We continue to believe there is great potential for us to expand in our major trade lanes from Asia to the United States, and we are firmly committed to the growth of our European business in Asia,” explained Andy Wang, president of C.H. Robinson Asia.
Further to Volk’s appointment, Rajendra Tamil has been appointed route development manager Asia, Europe Global Forwarding. Rajendra, with over 15 years of experience within the international freight forwarding industry, most recently worked at FedEx Trade Networks as sales manager for France. Prior to FedEx, Rajendra spent several years in Hong Kong, as a route development manager with Kuehne + Nagel and DSV.
Ivo Aris, director of Global Forwarding Europe shared, “I’m confident the appointments of Oliver and Rajendra will accelerate our growth in the European trade. Although the focus always existed within C.H. Robinson, having strategic employees in both regions positions us to be better prepared and more focused than ever to expand our growth in these regions.”
Volk added, “After only a few weeks within the organization, I can sense the strong and stable management within C.H. Robinson, the perfectly planned pace for growth, and the extensive market knowledge of our employees are best in class. I’m excited to work with the teams in Asia and Europe to drive volume growth and develop strategies.”
