IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Enevate Corporation, a technology leader in Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, announces that it has been named a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree for its unique silicon Li-ion batteries with HD-Energy® Technology in Computer Hardware & Components, Embedded Technologies, and Portable Power categories. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 27 product categories.
Headquartered in Irvine, California, Enevate has developed advanced Li-ion batteries based on new materials and cell designs with significantly higher volumetric and gravimetric energy density in thinner and lighter form factors, and with significantly faster charging than current conventional Li-ion batteries. Enevate’s novel HD-Energy Technology utilizes silicon-dominant composite anodes for rechargeable Li-ion polymer batteries which dramatically increases energy density by 25-50% over conventional graphite anode cells. Enevate’s new batteries enable smartphones, tablets, ultra-thin notebook PCs, and drones with longer runtimes in less space and weight. In addition, the ultrafast charging featurehas been demonstrated to provide a 90% charge in 15 minutes (or 50% charge in just over 5 minutes) with the increased energy and capacity.
“Batteries have always been a huge bottleneck for thin, sleek, yet highly functional mobile products,” said Jarvis Tou, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Products at Enevate. “Enevate’s silicon Li-ion batteries can dramatically decrease the charge time while increasing the runtime of consumer mobile devices, and power them for more functionality and new applications.”
The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)TM, the producer of CES 2016, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.
“We are honored to be recognized for this award and our breakthroughs for next-generation batteries,” said Brian Wong, CEO of Enevate. “Enevate continues to lead in advanced battery development and is the first to bring a silicon-dominant Li-ion battery to market.”
Enevate’s silicon Li-ion batteries with HD-Energy Technology will be displayed at CES 2016, which runs January 6-9, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. CES 2016 Innovation Honoree products are featured on CESweb.org/Innovation. Please visit Enevate at booth #81134 in the Eureka Park area of the Sands Expo, Level 1, Hall G. Enevate will also exhibit at the CES Unveiled media event on January 4, 2016 at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas.
Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace and unique/novel features present. Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.
