FREMONT, Calif. & BEIJING--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The MulteFire Alliance, an independent, diverse and international member-driven consortium, today announced that it will be hosting an Open Day and Technical Workshop at the Xijiao Hotel Beijing from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13. The event is open to anyone interested in learning more about MulteFire™ technology. MulteFire is an LTE-based technology for small cells operating solely in unlicensed spectrum for enhanced performance in local area network deployments. RSVP for the event here.
“Since launching the MulteFire Alliance at the end of 2015, we’ve made significant progress in the development of MulteFire and have demonstrated multiple proof points of the technology, including harmonious coexistence with Wi-Fi in the same spectrum and neutral host capabilities,” said Stephan Litjens, MulteFire Alliance Board Chair and head of Innovation Steering, Nokia. “I invite all companies with an interest in LTE over unlicensed spectrum to attend this educational event and meet in person with the experts behind MulteFire.”
The MulteFire Open Day and Technical Workshop agenda will include:
- Keynote presentation on the MulteFire business opportunity
- Technical presentations on MulteFire’s End-to-End Architecture and Neutral Host capabilities and MulteFire’s Radio Link
- Panel discussion featuring Baicells, Nokia and Qualcomm
- Reception featuring MulteFire demos from Ericsson, Nokia and Qualcomm
MulteFire aims to expand the LTE ecosystem to new and established wireless providers, including mobile operators, small, medium and large businesses, fixed and wireless ISPs, cable operators, venue owners and more. It is suitable for any spectrum that needs over-the-air contention for fair sharing, such as global 5 GHz unlicensed spectrum, and supports neutral host services. The MulteFire Alliance is developing the MulteFire specification Release 1.0 based on 3GPP Release 13 and Release 14 advancements, including downlink and uplink in unlicensed spectrum. Release 1.0 is scheduled to be published in Q4 2016.
To attend the MulteFire Alliance Open Day and Technical Workshop, RSVP.
Cisco and Neul Join the MulteFire Alliance
The MulteFire Alliance’s growing membership roster continues to highlight the diverse ecosystem supporting the technology.
“The addition of Cisco and Neul underscores that MulteFire supports the wireless connectivity needs for multiple applications and industries, from networking solutions to the projected multi-billions of connected IoT devices,” added Litjens.
“We collaborate with our customers every day to meet the growing demand for consumer and enterprise wireless connectivity," said Paul Mankiewich, vice president, Chief Technology Officer, Cisco. "We are eager to join the Alliance to explore the potential of MulteFire technology, and lend both our expertise and our customers’ requirements to continue industry discussions about fair use of unlicensed spectrum for future modes of wireless service delivery.”
“LTE standalone in unlicensed spectrum is an important technical direction for enterprise market development, such as manufacturing, warehousing, port, mining, and more. Neul hopes to promote the industry chain development by joining the MulteFire Alliance,” said Mr. Lee, enterprise marketing manager, Neul.
