BEIJING--()--GlobalPlatform, the standard for secure digital services and devices, has announced that its 2017 Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) Seminar will take place in Beijing on September 12. While the event is in its fifth year, this will be the inaugural Chinese event. The agenda – with keynote presentations from Alibaba and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) – will address the accelerated rate of digital service and device innovation in the region, a key driver in the growth of TEE globally. Currently, more than a billion processors that can support TEE are shipped worldwide per quarter.“After four successful years of hosting the GlobalPlatform TEE Seminar in Silicon Valley, the decision to relocate for 2017 was driven by strong demand for a Chinese TEE event,” comments Kevin Gillick, Executive Director of GlobalPlatform. “We have an expansive and growing member base in China and the region is committed to building an ecosystem where digital services and devices can be trusted and managed securely.”

The seminar, titled ‘Providing Security for Digital Services and Devices’, will bring together the industry’s foremost TEE subject matter experts from around the globe to showcase state-of-the-art device security and demonstrate the evolution of the threat landscape across the following key trends and use cases:

  • Payments – protecting payments as a digital service.
  • Digital Rights Management (DRM) – the application of TEE technology for DRM protection across multiple devices and in line with specific regional requirements.
  • Future trends and emerging applications – the TEE’s security and privacy proposition for implementations including connected cars and IoT objects.
  • Certification learnings from live projects – advice and discussion on real world certification best practice and methodologies in line with regional requirements and industry baselines including IFAA, TAF and FIDO.

“The popularity of TEE technology reflects the growing importance of connected devices like smartphones, set top boxes, wearables, connected cars and other IoT devices. However, new advancements bring new security challenges for device manufacturers and service providers who need to protect their applications. This is where the TEE adds value. So, as China is one of the most advanced secure digital service ecosystems, delegates can now hear from and speak to people involved in implementing the technology for the benefit of consumers, governments and corporations,” concludes Kevin.

GlobalPlatform and its 100+ members develop standards that support the evolution of the TEE ecosystem. The event will bring together service providers (including financial institutions, remote content distributors and companies working to develop enterprise solutions), platform providers, software vendors, device manufacturers and mobile network operators from across the globe.

GlobalPlatform would like to thank its sponsors ARM, DPLS Labs, FIME, HiSilicon, Imagination Technologies, Riscure, Trustonic and Government supporter CAICT.
