YOKOHAMA, Japan -- (BUSINESS WIRE) --

DP World Melbourne and DP World Brisbane have become the first marine terminals in Australia to achieve ISO 28000:2007 Supply Chain Security Management System certification, showing the increased worldwide adoption of the standard. TUV Rheinland Japan undertook the audit and has thereby become the first organization globally to issue an accredited certificate.

The ISO 28000 standard helps organizations establish procedures and policies, as well as preventative action plans to close gaps in the supply chain and establish a secure distribution network. Taking into account both the strategic and operational levels, the all-encompassing security standard fulfills most international customs security requirements while simultaneously increasing the visibility and efficiency of the supply chain. Given the current economic crisis, the increased pressure demands that organizations prioritize global security and establish a well-organized and effective supply chain that ensures on-time delivery and minimal losses.

As the world's fourth largest container terminal operator, DP World has prioritized ISO 28000:2007 certification for all of its 48 terminals. "DP World ANZAC is proud to become the first ISO 28000 certified organization in the region. Both the Melbourne and Brisbane terminals worked hard to achieve certification to this security standard and are already seeing the benefits and cost savings associated with its implementation. "We appreciate the time, effort and professionalism of the TUV audit team and look forward to continued cooperation in the future." said Mr. Jack Williams Managing Director of DP World ANZAC. This investment in security has been recognized by the US Department of Homeland Security and as a result invited DP World to join its C-TPAT programme.

Sebastian Doose, COO of TUV Rheinland Japan said, "It is a privilege to work with a company as dedicated to international security as DP World. The commitment of the audit teams in Melbourne and Brisbane has been second to none and their understanding of ISO 28000 and security is excellent. ISO 28000 certification is an important step towards securing the global supply chain and TUV Rheinland looks forward to working with other industry leaders to enhance security."
